Application of Microwave Drying in Waterborne Coatings

The use of water-based coatings is a general trend, and it is an effective method to solve the problem of furniture industry VOCS pollution. Wood needs to be dry, but water-based paint has a lot of water. People must solve the drying problem of water-based coatings.

Current drying methods are natural drying, hot air drying, infrared drying and so on. They are heated the material by heating the surface, and then increase the central temperature by heat conduction. Because temperature of the material inside and outside is not consistent, coating surface formation of the membrane to prevent water evaporation, easy to cause the deformation of furniture parts.Because of the material temperature is unstable, the coating layer formed a film. Water evaporation is blocked by the membrane. Furniture parts easy to deform.

The heating method of microwave drying is internal heating. The polarity orientation of the heated polar molecule will change with the change of the external field. The high speed friction and heating of the polar molecule raise the temperature of the material. So the material could be dried by microwave.
